About Us
Mission:
Palliative Care Network-e’s mission is to
promote free palliative care education
globally.
In June 2008, Palliative Care
Network- e (PCN-e) was launched,
with the “e” standing for education. From the requests received
from around the world,
we had two options: to either leave things the way they
were or to expand the endeavor.
We decided to provide more
structure and organization to the PCN-e project by making it a
separate project altogether. Also, we wanted to
ensure that the
thousands of volunteer hours that went
into the project bear fruit. To give a glimpse of the commitment of some of the
volunteers, let me share these examples with you: one of the
volunteers was working on our project to reach out to colleagues
around the world when his wife was about to deliver.
Another
was helping us few hours before his son's
wedding. In
fact, many who have contributed wish to remain anonymous.
We salute their commitment.
PCN-e is the result of
much skepticism. We were told we would never find
volunteers and people will not help each other. Here we are
expanding the project per the needs shared. This project is the result of feedback
from palliative care professionals like you.
A fair assessment as to how we function would
be to consider us to be like an open access publisher, with no
charge to anyone contributing to and benefiting from the
project. I am not a palliative care professional, but am
volunteering to provide support to the project because I have
seen how committed this group is and the impact it has made.
Please send us your feedback and help shape
the future of your project: PCN-e.
